Construction begins on a commercial building in Hampton Cove

A new 911 call center topped non-residential building permits issued last month. Residential permits and CO’s increased year-over-year.


Residential Permits (new construction) in Huntsville city limits:

In April, 163 housing units were permitted, 123 single- and 40 multi-family.

The top tract for building permits last month was 212 (Greenbrier), where 34 units were permitted, 4 single- and 30 multi-family.

This is a 64.6% increase over April 2017, when 99 housing units (all single-family) were permitted.


Residential Certificates of Occupancy (new construction) in Huntsville city limits:

123 housing units were granted certificates of occupancy (CO’s), 86 single- and 37 multi-family.

The top tract for CO’s in the month of April was 212 where 36 housing units were added, all multi-family.

This is a 7% increase from April 2017, when 115 housing units (88 single- and 27 multi-family) were granted CO’s.

Orange: Contract amount greater than $1 Million
Green: Contract amount between $500,000-$999,999
Blue: Contract amount between $100,000-$499,999
