Arrest Made in March 9 Shooting Death

Huntsville Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit has charged Adrian Hyder, 29 of Huntsville, with Murder in connection to the March 9 shooting death of Lucas Payne, 36 of Huntsville.

 

Officers responded to a call of shots fired in the parking lot of a convenience store at Oakwood Avenue and Pulaski Pike around noon on March 9.  Officers found the victim, Lucas Payne, suffering from a gunshot wound.  He was transported to the Hospital where he later died.

 

Around 11:00 a.m. today, Officers assigned to the US Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force took Hyder into custody in the parking lot of a convenience store in the 1200 block of Sparkman Drive.  He was taken into custody without incident and is being held in the Madison County Jail.  Investigators are not releasing any more details about the shooting at this time, but say it stemmed from an earlier altercation involving the two men.
