Arrest Made in October 18th Murder

The Huntsville Police Department Major Crimes Unit has charged 38 year old Billy Cardwell of Huntsville, with the October 18 shooting death of Phillip Montague.

 

Officers responded to a call of gunshots in the area of Medaris Road and Atkins Drive on October 18 around 12:45 a.m.  It appears there was an altercation between several people and shots were fired.  While officers were attempting to locate the crime scene, four victims from the shooting arrived at Huntsville Hospital in personal cars.  One of the men shot, 18 year old Phillip Montague of Huntsville, died at the hospital as a result of his injuries.

 

Cardwell was arrested on November 6 on two warrants for Assault stemming from the shooting.  After further investigation by the Huntsville Police Department and the Madison County District Attorney’s Office, Cardwell was served with a warrant for Murder yesterday while still in the Madison County Jail.
