On August 24, 2018, Huntsville Fire & Rescue responded to a duplex fire located at 3700 block of Alpine Street, Huntsville. On arrival, heavy smoke and flames were reported. Firefighter’s initial attack were from the outside to a second story window to cool the area so an interior attack could take place. After cooling the area, as firefighters made entry, they found the stairway engulfed in flames. The building was unsafe for an interior attack. A defensive fire attack (exterior operations only attack) was put into action after all firefighters exited the building. A ladder tower was used to extinguish the fire. The house sustained major damage and displaced five people.

A joint investigation by Huntsville Fire Investigations Division, and HPD found that the fire was incendiary. Two juvenile arrests have been made in connection with this fire.
