Renovations to the former Butler High School topped the list of non-residential permits issued last month. Residential permits increased slightly year-over-year.


Residential Permits (new construction) in Huntsville city limits:

In August, 109 housing units were permitted, 104 single- and 5 multi-family. The top tract for building permits last month was 109.01 (Hampton Cove), where 21 units were permitted, all single-family. This is a 6.9% increase over August 2016, when 102 housing units (all single-family) were permitted.


Residential Certificates of Occupancy (new construction) in Huntsville city limits:

135 housing units were granted certificates of occupancy (CO’s), 99 single- and 36 multi-family. The top tract for CO’s in the month of August was 212 (Greenbrier) where 36 housing units were added, all multi-family. This is a 20.1% decrease from August 2016, when 169 housing units (81 single- and 88 multi-family) were granted CO’s.

Orange: Contract amount greater than $1 Million

Green: Contract amount between $500,000-$999,999

Blue: Contract amount between $100,000-$499,999
