Nearly a dozen new projects were permitted at the Mazda-Toyota site in Greenbrier in August. Three new apartment projects were permitted last month, bringing the total number of multi-family housing units permitted this year to more than 1,200.


Residential Permits (new construction) in Huntsville city limits:

In August, 808 housing units were permitted, 132 single- and 676 multi-family. The top tract for building permits last month was 106.26 (Plummer) where 312 units were permitted, all multi-family. This is a 461% increase over August 2019, when 144 housing units (132 single- and 12 multi-family) were permitted.

Residential Certificates of Occupancy (new construction) in Huntsville city limits:

162 housing units were granted certificates of occupancy (CO’s), 121 single- and 41 multi-family. The top tract for CO’s in the month of August was 14.03 (Research Park West) where 40 housing units were added, all multi-family. This is a 40.9% increase from August 2019, when 115 housing units (110 single- and 5 multi-family) were granted CO’s.
