Big Spring Park expansion to impact traffic on Church Street

Published on

As work progresses on the expansion of Big Spring Park at the site of the former City Hall, improvements to Church Street between Clinton and Williams avenues will begin next week and continue throughout the summer.

The Church Street upgrades will enhance pedestrian safety, construct streetscape features and better integrate the east and west sides of Big Spring Park – including a new crosswalk across the roadway.

The ongoing park expansion is refashioning the 2.4 acres on the east side of the road as a dynamic greenspace bringing new amenities to Big Spring Park.

Church Street Construction Timeline (weather permitting)

  • Tuesday, May 26: Church Street lane closures will begin with the northbound outside lane being affected for removal and replacement of the sidewalk. The lane is expected to reopen on Tuesday, June 23.
