City of Huntsville Opens Applications for Municipal Court Judge

Published on July 20, 2017

The City of Huntsville is calling for applications for a full-time Municipal Court Judge.

Potential candidates must be licensed to practice law in the state of Alabama, in good standing with the Alabama State Bar, and must be a qualified elector of the state. No judge shall be otherwise employed in any capacity by the municipality during his or her term of office.
According to Alabama State Law, City Council is responsible for appointing municipal judges while the Mayor retains the authority to appoint the presiding judge when more than one full-time judge is needed. Municipal judges are appointed to four-year terms.

All applications, which satisfy the qualifications for the position of Municipal Court Judge, will be forwarded to the City Council for consideration.

The deadline for interested candidates to apply is August 2, 2017, by 6 p.m. For more information, click here or visit HuntsvilleAL.gov/MunicipalJudgeSelection.
