Celebrating residents and organizations creating a community in bloom
Mayor Tommy Battle and City Council members, in conjunction with the Huntsville Beautification Board, recognized more than 347 properties at the 50th annual Beautification Awards ceremony.
The City of Huntsville Beautification Awards began in 1975, recognizing outstanding contributions through superior landscaping and well-maintained properties.
“Every awardee sets a powerful example of what it means to take pride in our community,” Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle said. “Their commitment to beautification, cleanliness and environmental care not only enhances the quality of life for all of us, but also helps make Huntsville a greener, healthier and more sustainable city. Their efforts make our community an even more vibrant and welcoming place to call home.”
The mission of the City of Huntsville Beautification Board, created in 1965, is to encourage and applaud beautification efforts throughout the city.
“The Board set very demanding requirements that must be met to win an award,” said Beautification Board Vice President Acacia Moore. “Judging this year was very competitive and choosing the best of the best was often a difficult decision.”
The City’s Green Team is a Keep America Beautiful affiliate and a division of the City of Huntsville’s Landscape Management Department.
“We celebrate our residents and organizations whose efforts create a lasting impact on our city’s character and charm, and we thank the volunteers who help make these annual awards so special,” Niki Sothers, Manager of Landscape Management said.
