Join us in the VBC's South Hall for the second public installment of the Master Plan Update. Urban Design Associates (UDA) will present on their progress thus far, and then offer opportunities to provide comments/ideas on topics both general and specific. It's another chance to take part in shaping the future of Downtown Huntsville! PS - If you can't make it Thursday evening, UDA will be camped out working at UG White from Tuesday through Thursday, with small Public Open Houses scheduled Tuesday and Wednesday from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. Stop in and see what's cooking, and talk directly to the planners and urban designers...

Mayor Tommy Battle is extending a warm welcome to the Alabama League of Municipalities (ALM), which is hosting its 2021 convention in the Rocket City.

The convention kicked off Wednesday evening with a reception at the Von Braun Center (VBC). The annual event allows municipal vendors and state agencies to network with City officials and employees.

“We are proud to have leaders from across the state here in Huntsville,” Mayor Battle said. “I want to urge our community and local businesses to show them what Huntsville is all about during their stay.”

ALM is a nonpartisan membership association representing more than 450 cities and towns in Alabama. It provides municipal leaders with the resources, advocacy and training necessary to make Alabama’s communities more vibrant. ALM is an essential and welcome partner with the City and ensures municipalities have a strong voice in matters impacting the state.

“I want to extend a personal thank you to Greg Cochran, ALM Executive Director, for his leadership, and to everyone who was a part of bringing this year’s convention the Rocket City,” Battle said.

The conference runs through Friday at the VBC.
