Council Member John Meredith presents a resolution to Public Works Director Chris McNeese commending his department for their work during the January 2024 ice storm.

Council Member John Meredith sponsored a resolution praising the City’s Public Works Department for their diligent work in January to clear Huntsville’s roads during one of the worst ice storms in the City’s history. Meredith presented the resolution to Public Works Director Chris McNeese at a recent City Council Meeting.

The resolution said, in part, “We stand proud as a city because of our departments’ abilities to act quickly in times of need. Our Public Works department proved that ability during an unpredictable winter situation that left many unable to leave their homes for days. It was their team’s effort that got people back on the roads and able to get to work, school, or to the stores for needed supplies.”

Meredith said he would make sure every employee in Public Works received a copy of the resolution. “You all did a fantastic job,” Meredith said in presenting the resolution to McNeese.
