Industrial and office projects topped non-residential building permits issued last month. Residential permits grew significantly year-over-year.


Residential Permits (new construction) in Huntsville city limits:

In February, 182 housing units were permitted, 102 single- and 80 multi-family. The top tract for building permits last month was 106.12 (72 West), where 80 units were permitted, all multi-family. This is a 78.4% increase over February 2017, when 102 housing units (90 single- and 12 multi-family) were permitted.


Residential Certificates of Occupancy (new construction) in Huntsville city limits:

74 housing units were granted certificates of occupancy (CO’s), 72 single- and 2 multi-family. The top tracts for CO’s in the month of February were 109.01 (Hampton Cove) and 112 (Martin-Zierdt) where 16 housing units were added, all single-family. This is a 9.8% decrease from February 2017, when 82 housing units (81 single- and 1 multi-family) were granted CO’s.

Orange: Contract amount greater than $1 Million

Green: Contract amount between $500,000-$999,999

Blue: Contract amount between $100,000-$499,999
