FY24 City of Huntsville budget focuses on citizens first

Good news! City of Huntsville residents can now review the final adopted budget for Fiscal Year 2024.

During its Sept. 28 regular meeting, City Council approved the budget, which is heavy on quality-of-life services, such as expanded garbage collection and public transit, along with new and upgraded roads to retain favorable commute times.

It also includes funding for a new full-time position within the City’s Community Development Office that will focus on affordable housing for Huntsville citizens. Community Development Manager Scott Erwin hopes to advertise the position by the end of the year and hire someone to fill the role in the first quarter of 2024.
