On May 1, 2018, agents of the Madison-Morgan County HIDTA Drug Task Force (STAC) conducted a takedown at a business on Madison Blvd.  Agents located 18.8 pounds of marijuana in a vehicle driven by the offender, Claude Vaughn Jr.  Agents made contact with the Cullman County Sheriff to ask for assistance in responding to the offenders home address in Hanceville, Alabama. Cullman County Deputies responded to the residence and conducted an open air search with a K-9. The K-9 alerted on the residence and a Search Warrant was obtained by the Cullman County Narcotics Unit. When deputies made entry into the residence another 15.5 pounds of marijuana, numerous guns, and over $3,000 were located inside the residence. The total amount of marijuana seized was 34.3 pounds.  Claude Vaughn Jr. was charged with Trafficking in Marijuana and placed in the Metro Jail.
