HPD investigation leads to 10 voyeurism charges against a Meridianville man

A Meridianville man was arrested Monday after a Huntsville Police Department (HPD) investigation uncovered photographs and recordings of children allegedly taken in public places, resulting in 10 counts of first-degree voyeurism.
HPD’s Special Task Force Rescuing and Investigating Kid Exploitation (STRIKE) arrested Daren William Mount, 59, on Monday, Nov. 2.
The investigation began on Oct. 17 after an employee at a local business reported discovering concerning images while assisting Mount with a transfer of digital files. The report prompted an investigation by HPD’s STRIKE team.
During the investigation, officers identified photographs and recordings of children taken in public places. Some images appeared to have been manipulated, while others were captured from angles focused on intimate areas of children’s bodies.
Based on evidence gathered, officers obtained search and arrest warrants, which were executed Monday, Nov. 2. Digital storage devices were seized and are being examined by HPD’s Digital Forensics Team.
The investigation remains ongoing as investigators continue reviewing the digital evidence. Additional charges are possible.
HPD encourages anyone with information about the exploitation of children to report it to law enforcement.
