HPD seeks information on person of interest in deadly shooting

Additional Update: McCobbie was charged with murder for the shooting death of McCray.

Sunday, October 10, update: McCobbie turned himself in at Huntsville Police Headquarters Saturday night. He was booked into the Madison County Jail on an unrelated felony charge. Investigators are speaking with him about Saturday’s murder, and a murder charge is expected in this case.

Orginal release: The Huntsville Police Department (HPD) is asking for the public’s assistance with information on the whereabouts of 22-year-old Devonte DeWayne McCobbie. Major Crimes Unit Investigators would like to speak with McCobbie following a deadly shooting in the 900 block of Lakefront Drive on Saturday, October 9 around 9:00 a.m.

HPD Investigators believe the shooting incident is domestic-related, and it is being investigated as a homicide.

The victim has been identified as 25-year-old Bryant McCray.
