Huntsville Animal Services requests donations in honor of late ‘The Price is Right’ host Bob Barker

“This is Bob Barker reminding you to help control the pet population – have your pets spayed or neutered.”
If you heard that phrase growing up, you’ll know it was the sign-off of almost every episode of “The Price is Right” – and an important message for all pet owners.
Bob Barker, who passed away Saturday, Aug. 26, at age 99, was a fierce animal rights advocate. Outside of his iconic hosting gig, Barker created and funded The DJ&T Foundation that helped animals across the United States for decades.
Much like Barker, you can help our community’s furry friends by donating to organizations like the Huntsville Animal Services Foundation.
“Larger-than-life celebrities like Bob Barker used their fame, wealth and time for the good of animals across the world,” said Dr. Karen Sheppard, Director of Huntsville Animal Services. “We’re blessed with a giving community and look forward to using these funds to save more and more pet lives in Huntsville.”
The Huntsville Animal Services Foundation allows citizens to directly impact the care a pet receives while it’s in the shelter. Donations benefit pets by providing medical services and procedures, medications and other specialized care that often falls outside the scope of a municipal animal shelter.
Citizens are also allowed to donate their time through volunteering or provide physical items such as toys, leashes and treats.
Donations in honor of Barker will solely benefit spay/neuter efforts at the shelter. To donate or learn more about the foundation, click here.
