Huntsville Animal Services to close out Clear the Shelters Month with Star Spangled Slumber Paw-ty

Huntsville Animal Services (HAS) is inviting the community to put on their finest red, white and blue pajamas and head to the shelter for its annual Slumber Paw‑ty event, a late‑night adoption celebration filled with Americana charm and fee‑waived magic. The event takes place Friday, Aug. 28, from 5–10 p.m. at HAS, 4950 Triana Blvd SW.
The Slumber Paw‑ty closes out HAS’s 2026 Clear the Shelters Month campaign. This year’s theme, “Stars, Stripes & Second Chances,” has celebrated pets finding freedom, friendship and new families all month long. The Slumber Paw‑ty continues the America 250 spirit with:
- Fee‑waived adoptions on all adult dogs and cats
- Goodie bags for those who adopt during the Slumber Paw-ty
- Snacks, treats and fun activities
- Hourly social media challenges
- Patriotic pajama theme
- Plenty of star‑spangled fun as pets look for their second chance at freedom
“Our community has shown incredible heart this month, especially with the shelter managing several large pet intakes from single homes,” said HAS Director John Fischer. “The Slumber Paw‑ty is more than a celebration—it’s a call to freedom. Every adoption truly gives a pet a second chance at stability, compassion and a brighter future.”
All HAS adoptions include up‑to‑date vaccinations, microchipping and spay/neuter surgery.
Clear the Shelters Month, led nationally by NBCUniversal Local, has helped more than 1.3 million pets find homes since 2015. Each year, HAS joins the nationwide effort with waived‑fee promotions, spotlight stories and festive community events designed to inspire adoption.
