Huntsville approves contract for traffic study in Limestone County

To prepare for population growth in the west, the City approved a contract for a traffic study to be conducted with Skipper Consulting Inc. for engineering services.

The contract’s scope includes analyzing current and future traffic volumes along the I-65 corridor between I-565 and Huntsville Brownsferry Road for improvements to traffic operations within the area that could include a new interchange.

The Planning Commission last year approved a master plan developed by the City’s Planning Department that scaled out expected growth in housing units and jobs in Huntsville-annexed Limestone County.

Advanced manufacturing has seen dramatic growth in the area while private developers have shared plans for constructing hundreds of new single-family homes. Huntsville City Schools also plans to break ground later this year on a P-8 school in Limestone County.
