The City of Huntsville is moving forward with a critical piece of transportation infrastructure to enhance traffic flow entering and exiting Redstone Arsenal.

The City approved a $680,691 engineering design contract for Resolute Way Phase 1, which consists of approximately 2.1 miles of new roadway between Interstate 565 and Redstone Gateway near Gate 9. The contract with Garver LLC will begin surveying, geotechnical and design services for a new roadway in accordance with state and federal requirements.

In partnership with Redstone Arsenal, modifications to the Interstate 565 eastbound near Madison Boulevard will provide direct access to the arsenal’s main entrance at Gate 9.  The project is intended to improve traffic flow along I-565 at Madison Boulevard and at the I-565 and Research Park Boulevard interchange.

In November, the City entered into a funding agreement with the Alabama Department of Transportation for $11.5 million to the project, which included $2.3 million from the City and the remaining funds coming from the Huntsville Area Metropolitan Planning Organization for regionally significant projects in the area.

Design is anticipated to be complete in mid-2027.
