Huntsville Fire Academy Graduates 23 New Firefighters

Huntsville Fire & Rescue Training Academy graduated 23 new firefighters today during a ceremony at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center.

The new firefighters endured a strenuous twenty-two (22) week academy where they were taught the basic skills that establish the knowledge required for a career in firefighting. Some of these skills were ropes, knots, various firefighting techniques, high angle rescue, surface water rescue, vehicle extrication and several other technical skills need to be a modern day firefighter.  In addition to the firefighting skills all new firefighters are certified basic EMT level technicians, which will allow them to respond to the medical needs of the citizens of Huntsville. Service to the citizens of Huntsville is the core of the fire academy’s mission.

The graduation was held at the U.S Space & Rocket Centers National Geographic Theater. Located in the Davidson Center, One Tranquility Base.
