Huntsville launches citywide Earth Month celebration with cleanups and community fun
Published on April 1, 2026
Huntsville is springing into Earth Month with a lively lineup of community cleanups, plant giveaways and family-friendly events designed to get residents outdoors and making a visible difference. All month long, Operation Green Team is inviting the community to celebrate the planet and take part in activities that help keep Huntsville clean, vibrant and beautiful.

What began in 1970 as a small environmental teach-in has grown into a global call to action – and Earth Month in Huntsville is buzzing. How will you get involved?
“Whether you join a cleanup, visit Hays Nature Preserve or come grab some plants at our free giveaway, every small step helps keep our city clean, vibrant and beautiful,” said Niki Sothers, Manager of Green Team. “Earth Month is a chance to reconnect with nature and with each other, and we love seeing families, schools and neighborhood groups come out and make a visible impact.”
