If you’re a parent or guardian with too many items on your holiday to-do list and not enough time to do them, Huntsville Parks & Recreation is here to help.

The department will host two Parents Night Out events and a Drop & Shop this month, allowing parents to drop children off for fun-filled evenings with trained Parks & Recreation staff in a safe environment. Space is limited, so parents and guardians should sign up now.

“We realize it’s a busy and stressful time of year for parents and guardians, so this is a great way for adults to have some time to either finish last-minute Christmas shopping or just catch their breath,” said Parks & Recreation Director James Gossett.

The first Parents Night Out is Friday, Dec. 15, from 5-8 p.m., at Mark Russell Recreation Center. The deadline to register is noon on Thursday, Dec. 14. The second Parents Night Out is Friday, Dec. 22, from 5-8 p.m., at Fern Bell Recreation Center. The deadline to register is Tuesday, Dec. 19.

Drop & Shop is Tuesday, Dec. 19, from 5:30-8 p.m. at the Cinemark movie theater at Bridge Street. The event is open to the first 50 children ages 6-12. Huntsville Parks & Recreation will provide an age-appropriate movie and an evening of fun games. At least one parent or guardian must live within the City of Huntsville to participate.
