Huntsville Police, Parks and Recreation bring Halloween fun back to John Hunt Park

Halloween is taking over John Hunt Park once again, with the Huntsville Police Department (HPD) and Huntsville Parks & Recreation team up for an evening of trick-or-treating, games, entertainment and a haunted house on Friday, Oct. 23, from 6-9 p.m. at the Jaycee Building, 2200 Jaycee Way.
Admission is free and open to all ages.
The annual celebration gives residents a chance to enjoy the Halloween season while getting to know HPD officers and other members of the community in a fun, welcoming setting.
“Events like this provide our officers an opportunity to interact with families outside of their normal duties and build positive relationships with the community,” HPD Chief Kirk Giles said. “We look forward to seeing everyone, handing out candy and helping make this another fun Halloween tradition for Huntsville.”
The event will feature:
- Trick-or-treat trail
- Bounce houses
- Family-friendly entertainment and carnival games
- Food trucks with items for purchase
- Haunted House, opening at 6 p.m.
Costumes are encouraged but not required. Local vendors and nonprofit organizations will also be on site with candy booths and activities for families.
“Halloween has become a great opportunity for families to come together and enjoy everything John Hunt Park has to offer,” Huntsville Parks & Recreation Director James Gossett said. “We’re excited to partner with HPD again to provide a free event where families can make memories and enjoy the season together.”
