Huntsville takes precautions ahead of winter weather event

Published on March 11, 2022

The City of Huntsville is taking precautions to help keep employees and citizens safe ahead of this weekend’s expected winter weather event.

Due to projected low temperatures and bitterly cold wind chills Friday night into Saturday, the City’s Parks & Recreation Department will close all recreation facilities Saturday, March 12. Huntsville Animal Services will delay opening its shelter at 4950 Triana Blvd. until 11 a.m., Saturday.

Huntsville Transit will operate on a two-hour delay, with service for Orbit fixed-route and Access paratransit buses beginning at 9 a.m. Buses will operate through 7 p.m. and provide free rides to warming centers.

For the latest on weather conditions, follow the National Weather Service in Huntsville or local media. Citizens can also visit the Huntsville Police Department’s Facebook and Twitter for weather-related road closures.
