New office spaces in Research Park were the top non-residential building permits issued last month. Residential permits and CO’s grew year-over-year.


Residential Permits (new construction) in Huntsville city limits:

In January, 94 housing units were permitted, all single-family. The top tract for building permits last month was 109.01 (Hampton Cove), where 17 units were permitted. This is an 11.9% increase over January 2017, when 84 housing units (all single-family) were permitted.


Residential Certificates of Occupancy (new construction) in Huntsville city limits:

108 housing units were granted certificates of occupancy (CO’s), 72 single- and 36 multi-family. The top tract for CO’s in the month of January was 212 (Greenbrier) where 37 housing units were added, 1 single- and 36 multi-family. This is a 14.9% increase from January 2017, when 94 housing units (65 single- and 29 multi-family) were granted CO’s.

Orange: Contract amount greater than $1 Million

Green: Contract amount between $500,000-$999,999

Blue: Contract amount between $100,000-$499,999
