Published on August 22, 2022

How do you celebrate the City of Huntsville being named the Best Place to Live in the United States by U.S. News and World Report? With a party, of course!

Join Downtown Huntsville, Inc. (DHI) and the City’s Parks & Recreation Department and Music Office for the #1 City in America Celebration on Thursday, Aug. 25, from 5-10 p.m. on North Side Square. Everyone is welcome to attend the free event, which will include live music, an LED light experience, outdoor games, food, local artisans and more.

“Taking the #1 spot on the 2022-2023 U.S. News & World Report Best Place to Live survey has been significant for not only downtown, but all of Huntsville,” Mayor Tommy Battle said. “As summer comes to a close, we invite all of our citizens to this celebration to show what makes Huntsville, Alabama, so unique.”

Attendees will enjoy live music from the following artists:

  • Billy Allen & The Pollies – 6:30-7:30 p.m.
  • The Lamont Landers Band – 8-9:30 p.m.

Dray LaBorde will serve as Master of Ceremonies during the event. A special thanks to presenting sponsors Huntsville-Madison County Convention & Visitors Bureau and Van Valkenburg & Wilkinson Properties, supporting sponsors Google Fiber and Huntsville International Airport/Breeze, and stage sponsor McDonald’s/Johnson Partners, for helping make this celebration possible.

DHI CEO Chad Emerson is excited to welcome a big crowd for music, dinner and comradery during the downtown event.

“We hope everyone comes out to enjoy this fun, family-friendly party in the heart of our downtown district as we celebrate all the reasons Huntsville is a special place to live and play,” he said.
