New industrial and office projects topped the list of non-residential permits issued last month. Residential permit and CO issuances decreased year-over-year.


Residential Permits (new construction) in Huntsville city limits:

In May, 307 housing units were permitted, 113 single- and 194 multi-family. The top tract for building permits last month was 19.02 (Jones Valley), where 161 units were permitted, 1 single- and 160 multi-family. This is a 179% increase over May 2017, when 110 housing units (104 single- and 6 multi-family) were permitted.


Residential Certificates of Occupancy (new construction) in Huntsville city limits:

93 housing units were granted certificates of occupancy (CO’s), all single-family. The top tract for CO’s in the month of June was 112 (Hampton Cove) where 22 housing units were added. This is a 27.3% decrease from June 2017, when 128 housing units (96 single- and 32 multi-family) were granted CO’s.
