Published on July 16, 2025

Are you ready to take the next step in your career as a skilled mechanic? Join the City of Huntsville’s Fleet Services team for a recruitment meet-and-greet event on Wednesday, July 23.

The interactive event will be held from 5-8 p.m. at the Fleet Services Management Facility, 2739 Johnson Road SW, and will allow attendees to meet the Fleet Services team, tour the facility and learn about the open Equipment Technician II position.

Staff will be available to answer questions about job responsibilities, benefits and career development opportunities.

“We have a tremendous team at Fleet Services, and we’re looking for individuals who take pride in their work and want to serve the community,” said Ricky Wilkinson, Director of General Services and Fleet Services. “It’s a chance to give back to a city that invests in its people.”

Fleet Services maintains a wide range of equipment, from fire trucks and dump trucks to ORBIT buses. The facility includes an overhead crane, modern tooling and access to dealer-level training platforms such as Ford STARS and Cummins. Technicians also benefit from in-house training, including lunch-and-learns, hydraulic and electrical system education and more.

“Whether you’re just starting out or already have experience, there’s room for growth here,” said Matt Gardner, Fleet Services Manager. “We’ve built a facility and culture that supports learning, collaboration and professional development.”

The City of Huntsville offers competitive salaries and a robust benefits package, including health, vision and dental insurance, access to the employee health clinic, and a predictable schedule that supports work-life balance.
