The Huntsville Music Office is proud to announce its role as the official music partner for Design Week Huntsville 2026, a four-day celebration of creativity, collaboration and innovation with free events taking place across the city.
As part of this partnership, the Music Office will present the event’s Opening Night celebration, headlined by Huntsville native and acclaimed nationally touring artist Paul McDonald & The Mourning Doves, from 6-9 p.m. at The Lumberyard.
The Opening Night event will set the tone for a week highlighting Huntsville’s growing design sector and thriving creative community.
McDonald, who rose to national acclaim through his distinctive voice and dynamic stage presence, shared his enthusiasm for returning to perform in his hometown.
“Growing up in Huntsville, it means a great deal to come home and be part of Design Week,” McDonald said. “I’m incredibly proud to see how the city is investing in its creative community and elevating the music and arts scene. It’s an honor to be included in something that’s bringing so much energy and inspiration to a place that shaped me.”
As the official music partner, the Huntsville Music Office is supporting Design Week Huntsville’s mission of celebrating cross‑disciplinary collaboration and elevating local and regional talent.
Huntsville Music Officer Matt Mandrella said the partnership illustrates the momentum building within the city’s music ecosystem.
“This event showcases the creativity, innovation and talent that continues to emerge from Huntsville within a really fun atmosphere,” Mandrella said. “Paul’s excitement about returning for a homecoming show is especially meaningful because it reflects the growing national traction of Huntsville as a market that established artists are intentionally routing through. We’re proud to support Design Week Huntsville and amplify the creative professionals who make this community so special.”
Opening Night will also feature a vendor market showcasing local talent, the annual Ink Wars competition, and opportunities for attendees to network and engage with other creative professionals shaping Huntsville’s cultural future.
