The Huntsville Police Department (HPD) advises drivers to expect road closures, heavy pedestrian traffic and delays in downtown Huntsville Saturday, Oct. 17, for the 23rd annual Liz Hurley Ribbon Run.
Lowe Avenue, between Gallatin Street and Madison Street, will close Friday, Oct. 16, at 5 p.m. and remain closed overnight.
The remaining race route will close Saturday at 8 a.m. Roads are expected to reopen shortly after 10 a.m.
The race will begin on Lowe Avenue and follow this route: north on Franklin Street, east on Clinton Avenue, north on Monroe Street, west on Walker Avenue, south on White Street, west on Randolph Avenue, south on Green Street, east on Williams Avenue and south on Adams Street before returning to Lowe Avenue.
With more than 6,000 participants expected, drivers should plan for delays throughout downtown. HPD encourages motorists to use alternate routes, allow extra travel time and follow directions from officers managing traffic.
