Madison-Morgan County HIDTA Drug Task Force Investigation – Arrests

The Madison-Morgan County HIDTA Drug Task Force initiated an investigation that yielded two arrests on Friday Feb 2nd. The two offenders are Bertario Navarrette Santana, 33, of Norcross GA and Jose Eduardo Jimenez-Sanchez, 27, of Yucaipa California. After a month-long investigation, agents with the Madison-Morgan County HIDTA Drug Task Force (STAC) identified the two Hispanic males from the Madison-Morgan County area believed to be trafficking large amounts of methamphetamine “Ice.” The agents conducted surveillance and observed the two offenders driving west toward the Colbert County area. Agents notified local authorities of the situation and requested assistance. After stopping the offenders, STAC Agents searched the vehicle and found three kilos (approximately seven pounds) of “Ice” and a pistol. The Colbert County Sheriff’s Office, Sheffield Police Department, and Lauderdale County Drug Task Force arrived on scene to assist on the stop. Both offenders were transported to the Colbert County Jail without incident. According to Colbert County authorities this is the largest methamphetamine “Ice” seizure on record.
