‘Maintain Don’t Gain’ this Holiday Season with Healthy Huntsville and Huntsville Hospital

Healthy Huntsville Maintain Don't Gain

Healthy Huntsville and Huntsville Hospital Corporate Wellness are partnering up this holiday season to encourage people to maintain their current weight and not gain those extra holiday pounds.

Citizens are encouraged to weigh-in this week at any of the Huntsville Hospital Wellness Centers or at one of the City’s four recreation centers. Weigh-out week is January 2-6, 2019, and participants must go to the same weigh-in location. All participants who complete weigh-in and weigh-out will receive a ‘Maintain Don’t Gain’ t-shirt. Those that lose weight or maintain their weight are eligible for prizes-such as 60-minute massages, Lowe’s gift card, and a stay at the Huntsville Westin.

Huntsville Hospital CEO David Spiller and Mayor Tommy Battle enjoyed participating in a Facebook Live via Healthy Huntsville’s page on Monday, Nov. 12, to discuss the importance of keeping your current weight over the next month and a half, despite all of the extra food and treat temptations.

Mayor Battle said “partnering with local health organizations, such as Huntsville Hospital, allows the City to grab hold of their expertise and have the biggest impact on the community.”

David Spillers provided a tip to help everyone from gaining extra pounds when hitting the holiday party scene. “It’s all about moderation,” he said. “Don’t deprive yourself, but don’t overdo it. Be careful of grazing, before long you tend to forget how much you have eaten throughout the night.”
