Published on September 28, 2016
The Commanding General of the Army Material Command (AMC), General Dennis Via, met with Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle today at City Hall.
Mayor Battle presented General Via with a key to the city to honor the retiring commanding general and thank him for his tremendous service to the Huntsville and North Alabama community. During his service, General Via elevated Huntsville’s visibility and was instrumental in bringing the prestigious Association of the United States Army (AUSA) Global Force Symposium and Exposition to the Rocket City as well as its corresponding economic boost the conference brings annually to the community.
The AMC is headquartered at Huntsville, Alabama’s Redstone Arsenal and is the premier provider of materiel readiness – equipping, sustaining and enabling the warfighter through technology, acquisition support, materiel development and logistics power projection — across the spectrum of joint U.S. military operations.
Mayor Battle – on behalf of the City of Huntsville – wishes General Via and his family all of the very best as he transitions into retirement.
