HPD to manage downtown traffic for VBC 5K Music Run

The Huntsville Police Department (HPD) will temporarily implement road closures in downtown Huntsville for the Von Braun Center’s 5K Music Run on Saturday, Aug. 30. The Huntsville Police Department’s (HPD) Summer Slowdown traffic safety initiative ended on Tuesday, Aug. 12, with enforcement efforts resulting in more speeding citations and safer roads across the City. From June 9 to Aug. 12, officers issued 4,446 citations and 2,146 warnings to drivers. During the same period in 2024, HPD reported 3,798 citations and 2,324 warnings.
