NGA, GEOHuntsville to host Geospatial Advantage Conference and Career Fair

The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency and GEOHuntsville will co-host the Geospatial Advantage Conference and Career Fair in Huntsville, Ala. Nov. 29, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. CST.

The conference will focus on “Why Where Matters” and will highlight speakers from government, the non-profit sector, academia and industry discussing the latest trends in defense and geospatial intelligence and career opportunities for students in the Huntsville area. A student career fair will immediately follow the conference.

“This is an exciting time to be a part of the growing Huntsville geospatial community,” said NGA Deputy Director Tonya Wilkerson, who will give the opening keynote. “This will be a great opportunity to engage with thought leaders as we strengthen our relationships and continue to build momentum.”

The conference will feature leaders from government, industry and academia, including the Defense Intelligence Agency, Redstone Arsenal, the National Reconnaissance Agency and NASA, and will feature a closing keynote from Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle.
Topics discussed will include:

•    The future of artificial intelligence
•    Commercial data and imagery
•    Geospatial learning inside and outside the classroom
•    Fostering a geospatial ecosystem

A student career fair will be held immediately following the conference, from 2:40 p.m. – 5 p.m. CST, including representatives from NGA and other federal agencies, industry and non-profits. Five schools in the Huntsville region have been invited to attend: University of Alabama in Huntsville, Alabama A&M, University of North Alabama, Oakwood University and Drake State Community and Technical College. There is no cost for full-time students to attend the career fair.
