Officer-Involved Shooting

The Huntsville Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting that happened overnight at 8212 Bailey Cove Road.  The adult white male suspect was pronounced dead at the scene, and the officers involved are on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.

Officers responded to an alarm call at the Marathon gas station at approximately 3:00 a.m. When they arrived they discovered it was a burglary in-progress.  There was a broken glass in the front of the store and a male inside.  The male ran out of the store with what appeared to be a gun in each hand pointed at the officers.  The officers fired their weapons and the man died at the scene.  There were no other suspects inside the store.  The investigation is ongoing and the officers will remain on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation and the findings of an Incident Review Board.  Additional details will be released when they are available.
