One dead, four injured in Jordan Lane shooting

The Huntsville Police Department (HPD) is investigating an early morning shooting that occurred Sunday, Aug. 2, leaving one person dead and four others injured.
At approximately 2:30 a.m., HPD officers responded to a report of shots fired near the intersection of Jordan Lane and Mastin Lake Road.
When officers arrived in the 2800 block of Jordan Lane, they found two individuals suffering from gunshot wounds. Officers immediately provided lifesaving aid before both victims were transported to the hospital in critical condition.
One of the victims, identified as Vontrelle Ta’lyjah Moore, 26, of Talladega, later died from his injuries. The second victim remains hospitalized in critical condition.
While securing the scene, officers located a vehicle near the intersection of Jordan Lane and Grizzard Road that had also been struck by gunfire. Two occupants inside were wounded and transported to the hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
Investigators were later notified that a fifth victim had arrived at a local hospital by private vehicle with a gunshot wound. That person’s injuries were also not considered life-threatening.
HPD’s Major Crimes unit is leading the investigation.
Preliminary investigation leads investigators to believe a physical altercation occurred. During the fight, multiple individuals produced weapons and exchanged gunfire.
