Calling all girls in grades 3-5! Lace up your running shoes for an empowering journey as Girls on the Run returns to Huntsville Parks & Recreation.
This 10-week program is designed to foster confidence and enhance decision-making skills among participants. The cost is $20 per person, and the program is limited to a group of 25 girls. Registration closes Feb. 18.
Starting March 4 and running through May 11, the program’s sessions will be Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:15-5:30 p.m. at the Fern Bell Recreation Center, 107A Sanders Road SW.
Led by a team of five certified coaches, Girls on the Run transcends the conventional notions of running programs. Tania Jessie, Wellness and Fitness Programmer at Johnson Legacy Center and one of the program’s dedicated coaches, explained the journey goes far beyond physical activity by also teaching valuable life skills.
“On day one, the girls don’t know each other, but by the end of the season, they’ll be encouraging each other during the Celebratory 5K Run,” she said. “It’s sincere and heartwarming.”
