Register now for municipal election; absentee voting ongoing

Time is running out to cast your ballot in the municipal election on Aug. 25.
Residents must register to vote by Monday, Aug. 10, to be eligible to vote in the election. City Council seats in Districts 2, 3 and 4 will be on the ballot as well as Huntsville City Schools Board of Education seats in Districts 2 and 3. Incumbent Ryan Renaud was the only candidate to qualify for the school board’s seat in District 4 and his reelection has been declared by a vote of the City Council.
Residents must register to vote through the Alabama Secretary of State’s office. Registration forms can be completed online, or a form can be requested online and mailed to the Madison County Board of Registrars or the Morgan County Board of Registrars, depending on your home address. Residents can also request the Secretary of State’s office mail a registration form, which can be returned to this address:

Absentee voting is ongoing. Ballots must be postmarked by Aug. 24 and received by noon on Aug. 25. Registered voters have until Aug. 18 to apply for an absentee ballot by mail and Aug. 20 is the deadline to apply for an absentee ballot in person. Aug. 24 is the last day to apply for an emergency absentee ballot.
