It’s time to sign up for one of Huntsville Parks & Recreation’s fall youth sports. Families can now register in-person or online through Aug. 7 for flag football, soccer, volleyball and cheerleading.

“Youth sports are an important part of helping kids develop social and motor skills, as well as maintain a healthy lifestyle,” said Parks & Recreation Director Bernita Reese. “They also enable kids to create lifelong friendships and memories.”

Parks & Recreation organizes eight leagues throughout Huntsville, including American, Continental, Eastern, International, Lakewood, Liberty, Metro and Northern. Parents or guardians can use the City’s virtual locator to find the league closest to their home. While Parks & Recreation does not organize Redstone Arsenal’s youth sports, their league competes with Huntsville’s youth leagues.

In-person registration will be held the next two Saturdays, July 31 and Aug. 7, from 9 a.m. to noon at the league’s neighborhood park or recreation center. Many leagues also have an online registration option. This information, along with the fees associated with each sport, is available through the league director or zone coordinator. If you’re unsure which league to contact, please call 256-564-8026.

Volunteers needed! Parks & Recreation needs volunteer coaches and sports directors to have a successful fall season. If you are interested in volunteering or want to learn more, please contact Brian Wilson at brian.wilson@huntsvilleal.gov.
