Residential Bulk Waste Pick-up Delays

Published on April 21, 2021

Huntsville’s Sanitation division advises that some areas of the City may experience delays in curbside bulk waste collection.

The spring cleaning season typically produces high volumes of yard debris and trucks are operating at full capacity.

“We’re running wide open trying to catch up, even running trucks overtime into Friday and on Saturday until the landfill closes at noon,” said Chris McNeese, Director of Public Works. “We’re asking our residents for a little grace and patience in the coming weeks.”

Adding to the high volume of yard waste, the Sanitation division is also experiencing supply side delays on routine equipment parts for truck maintenance. New trucks are backordered, too.

“COVID-19 is still kicking us around a bit in terms of supplies and maintenance, but we’re pushing through it and doing our best to service our residents,” McNeese said.

Curbside pickup for the large green carts is mostly stable, but if you experience a delay, please leave the cart curbside until it can be collected.
