Several downtown Huntsville streets to close May 27 near Madison County Courthouse

Due to a special event taking place near the Madison County Courthouse on Wednesday, May 27, several downtown Huntsville road closures will be in effect beginning at 5 a.m. and are expected to remain in place until 8 a.m.

The following traffic restrictions will be in place:

  • Clinton Avenue – no access to Jefferson Street
  • Spragins Street – no access to Spring Street
  • Fountain Circle – closed just past the City Hall parking garage
  • Gates Avenue – no access to Madison Street
  • Gates Avenue and Franklin Street – no access onto Franklin Street from Gates Avenue
  • Green Street – no access to Eustis Avenue

Businesses along the courthouse square and Madison County Courthouse employees should enter the square from Randolph Avenue onto North Side Square. Huntsville Police officers will be stationed throughout the area to assist drivers and provide guidance on access to the courthouse square.

Drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes, expect delays and allow extra travel time during the morning commute.
