Toyota and Mazda Select Huntsville for $1.6 Billion Auto Plant

Intense speculation over a major industrial project for Huntsville’s TVA-certified megasite ended today when Toyota and Mazda executives announced they will jointly build their new $1.6 billion assembly plant in the Rocket City.
“This is one of the most sought-after economic development projects in the nation, and likely the biggest of the decade,” said Mayor Tommy Battle. “It’s a $1.6 billion investment, 4,000 new jobs, $200 million in annual payroll. This is a transformative project for Huntsville and Alabama.”
