Trail of Tears Motorcycle Ride to impact Huntsville traffic Saturday, Sept. 19

Thousands of motorcycles will travel through Huntsville on Saturday, Sept. 19, as the 33rd annual Trail of Tears Commemorative Motorcycle Ride makes its way across the city, bringing temporary road closures and traffic delays along portions of U.S. 72 and I-565.
The Huntsville Police Department’s (HPD) Traffic Services Unit will assist with traffic control as riders travel through the area between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.
The ride is expected to reach Huntsville around 9 a.m. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency will escort riders west along U.S. 72 and I-565 to the Greenbrier Parkway exit. Riders will stop at Redstone Harley-Davidson for a lunch break before continuing north on Mooresville Road to U.S. 72.
As the procession moves through Huntsville, HPD will temporarily close portions of the route to allow riders to safely pass. Roads and ramps will reopen as the procession clears each area.
Drivers traveling through the area should expect brief delays, use caution around the procession, follow directions from law enforcement and consider alternate routes.
