Huntsville Parks & Recreation invites veterans to participate in Serving for Service on Monday, Nov. 9 from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Optimist Recreation Center, 703 Oakwood Ave. NE
The free open-play pickleball event honors the service and sacrifice of those who have served in the military and provides veterans a setting to connect with fellow service members through recreation and enjoy healthy competition on the pickleball court.
“Serving for Service is an opportunity to bring veterans together through recreation while recognizing the sacrifices they’ve made in service to our country,” said Superintendent of Recreation for Community Services Dorianne Johnson. “We’re proud to offer opportunities for the veteran community to be active, join with others and know their service is appreciated.”
Participants are encouraged to wear appropriate apparel or other items representing their branch of military service.
Participation is reserved for veterans and registration is required. Space is limited, so interested participants are encouraged to register in advance.
