Walk through a winter wonderland with Huntsville Parks & Recreation

Published on December 13, 2022

Stroll through a winter wonderland, enjoy hot chocolate and meet Santa from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. this Saturday, Dec. 17. That’s when Huntsville Parks & Recreation and some special elves are bringing a little North Pole magic to the Dr. Richard Showers, Sr. Recreation Center, 4600 Blue Spring Road NW.

Families are invited to enter several holiday scenes, where Santa’s helpers will make sure they get the perfect holiday picture.

Expect to meet other friends along the way, including a famous reindeer and even an ice princess. Watch out for the Grinch, though. You never know when that bad banana might show up.

At the end of the stroll, children can spend some time with Santa and share their hopes for the holidays.

“I absolutely love the family orientation of the season,” said Kent Ballard, supervisor of the Dr. Richard Showers, Sr. Recreation Center. “We’re excited for families to come together, take pictures and create lasting memories.”

Other activities include holiday crafts, painting and a vendor market. Other than the market, everything is free. All are welcome to attend.
