Winter Weather Alert: City delayed opening until noon, Jan. 16

Published on January 15, 2018

City Hall and municipal offices will delay opening until noon on Tuesday, January 16, due to the winter weather forecast and potentially hazardous road conditions.

Public Transit and Handi-Ride will continue to run as long as roads are passable; however, patrons should be alert to possible closings and make their travel plans accordingly.

“We will have a snow and ice team on standby to mobilize and blade any accumulated snow on our roadways and treat any icy conditions,” said Chris McNeese, Public Works Director. “We strongly encourage the traveling public to use extreme caution when using the roadways tomorrow morning.”

McNeese reminds the public that garbage collection is operating on a holiday schedule this week and may experience further delays. Residents should place their trash cans curbside and leave them there until crews can pick them up. Public Works plans to collect all cans this week, even if it requires service on Saturday.

The City will assess conditions throughout the morning and keep you updated on the website and through our social channels.

Be safe and stay warm!
