City approves annexation for school and future development

The City of Huntsville approved an ordinance to approve the requested annexation of land in Limestone County.

Requested by GL McCrary Farms LLC, the annexation would bring 648.44 acres of land into Huntsville on the south side of Interstate 565 and east and west of Swancott Road.

One hundred acres of the annexed land will be for Huntsville City Schools to build a P-8 school and potential expansion. The remaining land will be for residential and development.
