The Huntsville Police Department (HPD) has arrested Terryon Ellis Dewayne Gatewood, 20, and Daquavion DeShawn Malone, 21, both of Huntsville, in connection with the first of two shootings that occurred Sunday, Aug. 2 near Jordan Lane and Mastin Lake Road.

Gatewood and Malone are each charged with reckless murder in the death of Vontrelle Moore.

Based on evidence collected during the investigation, HPD established two separate shootings occurred that morning.

The first shooting followed an altercation in the 2800 block of Jordan Lane. Moore was not the intended target and was struck during the shooting. Another man was shot, and he remains in critical condition.

Moments later, a vehicle leaving the area was fired upon by individuals at a business across the street. Occupants of the vehicle were struck and suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Both shootings remain under active investigation and additional arrests and charges are possible.
